The purpose of the Section shall be to promote the objectives of the State Bar of Texas within the field of taxation, provide leadership in the practice of tax law, create a better understanding and cooperation between attorneys engaged in the practice of tax law, improve the education of attorneys and related professionals in the laws of taxation, promote the economic and professional interests of the members of the Section, serve the public good and participate actively in the drafting, review and promotion of legislation and administrative rules affecting state and federal tax law.

	7/17/2008	Updates on the Administration of the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts (webcast) - 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm Central Time The meeting will include a brief presentation by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts as well as several key persons in Texas tax addressing various current developments in Texas Tax. It will include updates on State Revenue Issues and the Tax Process as will as a Tax Policy and Audit Update. There will be information on District and Appellate Court Cases and a report on the Business Tax Advisory Committee. There will be a panel discussion on Franchise Tax Issues with panelists from the State Bar, the Comptroller’s Office and the Texas Society of CPAs.
