The meeting will include a brief presentation by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts as well as several key persons in Texas tax addressing various current developments in Texas Tax.  It will include updates on State Revenue Issues and the Tax Process as will as a Tax Policy and Audit Update.   There will be information on District and Appellate Court Cases and a report on the Business Tax Advisory Committee.  There will be a panel discussion on Franchise Tax Issues with panelists from the State Bar, the Comptroller’s Office and the Texas Society of CPAs.

This webcast focuses on the basics of estate planning for S corporation shareholders.  After a brief overview of the S election process, it discusses considerations for the initial client conference and trust planning for S corporation shareholders, with an emphasis on the requirements for grantor trusts, testamentary trusts, Qualified Subchapter S Trusts (“QSSTs”) and Electing Small Business Trusts (“ESBTs”).  It concludes with an overview of the automatic relief provisions for late and defective QSST and ESBT elections.
